The Company was incorporated on June 14, 1944 under the Indian Companies Act, VII of 1913 under the name ‘HINDUSTHAN GAS CO., LTD.’ vide Registration Number 11754/69 of 1944-1945, in the state of West Bengal. The name of the Company was changed to ‘HINDUSTHAN GAS & INDUSTRIES LTD.’ w.e.f. November 15, 1961 and to ‘HGI INDUSTRIES LIMITED’ w.e.f. July 24, 1998 .
